I’m giving a talk as part of the Virtual Family History Conference: Growing for Generations, presented by St. Cloud Area Genealogists and the Stearns History Museum. I will discuss Crackerjack Bands and Hometown Boosters:  The Story of a Minnesota Music Man in a virtual event sponsored by the Northfield Public Library. I will read from the book about the life and times of my paternal great grandfather, G. Oliver Riggs, a community band leader in greater Minnesota at the turn of the century. I will also answer questions about the book and my writing process.

I will be the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the Stillwater Woman’s Reading Club, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 5th St. S., Stillwater. I’ll talk about my book and also sell and sign copies.

I will be one of five writers participating in Carnivals, Cowboys, and Clowns: A Winter Reading by the Fisher Cats, held from 3-4 p.m. at Amore Coffee, 879 Smith Ave. S. West St. Paul. I’ll be reading an excerpt from my book about the time my great-grandfather and members of a Montana Cowboy Band caused a ruckus at the State Capitol during the 1917 St. Paul Winter Carnival.

The event is free. I’ll be selling and signing books afterward.

I will sign books from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ferguson Books & More, 1720 S. Washington St. in Grand Forks, N.D. Coffee and chippers will be served!

I’ll be reading excerpts from my book at a special event at Little Joy Coffee, 300 Division St. S., in Northfield. Enjoy finger food and specialty coffee drinks, including a Crackerjack-themed drink created just for the event!

Books will be available for purchase on site. I’ll also happily sign copies purchased in advance at Content Bookstore or the Northfield Historical Society’s museum store.

I will appear on the KYMN Radio show “15 With the Author.” Teri Knight will interview me about my book, starting at 11 a.m. Tune in to 95.1 FM/1080 AM. The 15-minute program will also be archived.

I’ll be selling and signing books from noon to 3 p.m. at Carleton College’s Skinner Chapel, during the registration and rehearsal for Tuba Christmas. The Vintage Band Festival-sponsored concert starts at 3 p.m. and is free for audience members.

I will read from and discuss my book from 2-3:30 p.m. at The Irreverent Bookworm, a new independent bookstore at 5163 Bloomington Ave. S. in Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the public, and light snacks and beverages will be served!

I’ll be signing books from 3-5 p.m. at Zenith Bookstore, 318 N. Central Ave., Duluth.

I’ll be the featured speaker at the annual meeting of the Polk County Historical Society at the Crookston Inn and Conference Center in Crookston. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.
